Walking into the theatre to watch this movie one has a million questions in one’s head, how is Amitabh Bachchan a man almost in his late 60's get into the shoes of a 12 year old. But as the movie ends one has to admit that nowhere in this movie did one get to even have a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan, it was just Auro all the way. The Veteran star that he is has added another feather in his hat with this brilliant performance as Auro the 12 year old kid suffering from Progeria, a very rare medical disorder wherein a child ages five to six times faster than his actual age. So at 13, Auro has the body of 65 year old but mentally still a 13 year old boy.
Synopsis : The Movie is all about Auro a cheerful 12 year old raised by a single mom. Auro is like any other normal 12 year old, cheerful, loves to play pranks etc but is suffering from progeria. Auro wins the first prize in his schools young visionaries of India completion and receives the award from Amol a young , cool and rising M.P. throwing him into the spotlight of the media attention which he detests. Auro shares a special bond with his mother Vidya a gynecologist and grandmother whom he calls Bum. Auro is the world for Vidya and vice versa too. Amol finds Auro interesting and tries to share some moments with him and is totally oblivious to the fact that Auro is his own son,The plot is basically how Amol finds out that Auro is his son and accepts him into his life.
Vidya Balan does justice to her role as Auro's Mother, the movie contrary to its subtitle is more a mother son relationshipthan a father son relationship. Abhishek Bachan as Amol the young cool Suave M.P. does a decent job. The Dialogues are witty and it’s these witty lines that Auro shoots out that make him even more loveable.
For many from the south Auro will remind them of anjali the little autistic kid played by Shamillee who stole all our hearts in that film.
It will not be complete if one forgets to mention about the soothing melodious tunes by the Mastero Illayaraja, the tunes are heartwarming and the cinematography of P.C. Sreeram is as usual brilliant.
The person who deserves a standing ovation for this movie is none other than Amitabh Bachchan. The Amazingly Brilliant Prosthetic Makeup and with that sheepish childish voice one totally fails to see the tall man with his trademark voice which won the hearts of millions before, anyone who see's this movie has to admit that Amitabh Bachchan has completely transformed into Auro on screen.
A thumbs up To R. Balki and team for Paa. This movie is definitely worth the money atleast to see the amazing performance delivered by auro.
My Verdict : Paisa Vasool
