How often do we get to watch a hindi movie with a soul in it, I believe that it’s a very rare thing. Rocket Singh : Salesman of the year is one such rare movie, It’s one of those movies where the hero does not run behind a girl, songs are not put in just so that the hero and the heroine can romance around trees and parks with fifteen odd people dancing behind them, because according to some Indian directors a movie should have a minimum of 6 songs and three fight sequences and the biggest difference Rocket Singh has from the majority of Hindi movies is that it’s one of the few movies which has a really good script. This movie is very refreshing and its not your usual Hindi love story movie.

Synopsis : Harpreet Singh Bedi, just out of college, he is a simple guy who lives life for the small things in life. Harpreet is clear that he does not want to do an MBA instead he wants to be a salesman, all ready to take over the world Harpreet starts looking out for a job which lands him an interview with AYS Computers. Harpreet is all honest and wants to do his job with honesty, When Nitin his sales manager gives Harpreet his first assignment, Harpreet’s honesty not only stands out when he refuses to bribe the officer in exchange for his order but also ends up writing a complaint against him on the company letter head, which lands him in trouble with a demotion.

Harpreet truly believes that business can be done honestly and decides to start his own company, by convincing a few of his colleagues to join him and they start working secretly under the company they work for and succeed in outperforming AYS Computers, because of their honesty and their dedication.

The casting for this movie is commendable : D. Santosh as the computer maintenance guy who surfs porn all day, Gauhar Khan as the receptionist who is awaiting a promotion. Mukesh Bhatt as the peon who can assemble a computer and Naveen Kaushik as the sales manager (the side burns are really cool) are all commendable. Let’s not forget the cherry on this cake Ranbir Kapoor, this guy is excellent as Harpreet Singh Bedi, Ranbir Kapoor is among the rising stars who can really act, Ranbir gets into the skin of the character with ease and does an awesome job.

The movie does have some lapses in the first half which takes its time in establishing characters and drags slightly but the second half makes up for that and is more refreshing. I really like the way this movie has been treated it’s neat, clean and good.

The Question whether this movie will be a box office hit is something we should all wait and watch, it would be a shame if I have to see this movie in the list of movies which should have deserved better response than it received for 2009.

I am going to give this movie four kernels out of five for the only reason that it’s rare to find movie’s like this which have a soul in them.

Looking forward to see more movies like this in the future. Even though this is not how Hindi movies should be for certain people, I do hope to see more of these kind of movies than the mindless masala movies which we keep getting to watch my verdict is it’s a total paisa vasool.

Warning : Please don’t go for this movie if u like masala films cause not only will u be wasting your time you will also spoil the mood of the people who will enjoy this movie.

Rating :

My Verdict : Paisa Vasool
